Hubble Telescope – The Most Famous Camera of All
Time?
|

| |
For years, some
of the greatest photos have been brought to us not from a person, but
by a machine, the Hubble Space Telescope to be exact. Since 1990, NASA
has been monitoring the galaxy with their state-of-the-art telescope.
Since then, Hubble has been producing some of the most awe-inspiring
images known to man.
The telescope, which is named after astronomer Edwin Hubble, is able to
produce the most detailed visible-light image of our universe ever.
Because of this, the telescope is able to see objects out in to the
distant galaxy. The Hubble Telescope lets us see things that we never
thought we would witness. The birth of stars, distant galaxies, close
up images of planets, distant supernova and many more important
discoveries about the universe were brought upon by the usage of the
Hubble Telescope.
One of the best parts about the Hubble Telescope is that it has gotten
better with age. Thanks to various missions, astronauts have been able
to upgrade Hubble Telescope’s abilities to help it seeing even further
and clearer in to the galaxy. With the fourth, and last, servicing
mission in 2009, Hubble Telescope received a Wide Field Camera 3 which
increases its observational capabilities in the ultraviolet and visible
spectral ranges by up to 35 times because of its higher sensitivity and
wider field of view. The Hubble Telescope also received a Cosmic
Origins Spectrograph which observes ultraviolet parts of the spectrum
and is about the size of a telephone booth. With other maintenance that
was performed by the space crew, Hubble Telescope is now expected to
continue full functioning into 2014 and perhaps for even longer.
While there are plans for a successor for the Hubble Telescope, you can
rely on it to keep on shooting amazing photos of the universe for years
to come. Without the Hubble Telescope, there are so many things we
would not have known about our galaxy and many others out there. It’s
amazing to view images that the Hubble Telescope has produced. Seeing
how vast space is and how much is out there is truly astounding. Seeing
the unknown is incredible. We are viewing places that we are never
going to reach in our lifetime, it’s simply incredible stuff.
If you know anyone who is a fan of the solar system, astronomy, space
or even awe-inspiring photographs, then a photo care of the Hubble
Telescope would be an excellent gift. A photo of Tarantula Nebula,
Horsehead Nebula, distant galaxies or the infamous Pillars of Creation
photo of stars forming in the Eagle Nebula would look great in anyone’s
household or office. If you are going to purchase a photo that the
Hubble Telescope has taken, make sure you have it professionally
framed. Choose the best mat
board and frame for the situation so that your image
continues to amaze for years to come. Who knows what Hubble Telescope
will photograph next, all I know is that America will be waiting to see
what it has for us for years to come.
